How to Make Spray Bottles

Everyone seemed to enjoy my post last week about how to make roller bottles so I decided to take some time to teach you how to make spray bottle recipes. Having some spray bottles pre-made on hand can help with using essential oils aromatically (or smelling them), topically (on your skin), and even internally (ingesting them). I most commonly have them prepped and ready to go for,

  • Room Sprays
  • Owies
  • Linen Sprays

To name a few!

Before we can make spray bottles, we need to get bottles! doTERRA now has some in your back office which makes it really easy!!!! Next time you order just go to the accessories section and you find some 30 mL (or 1 oz) spray bottles there. You can also find a great selection on Amazon! HEREare the ones I like, they come with cute labels, a funnel, and extra spray accessories.

The most common things you will need to make your spray bottle recipes are Fractionated Coconut Oil, Witch Hazel, Aloe Vera Juice, and water. My preference for Fractionated Coconut oil is doTERRA’s. You can also find some great options on Amazon. If I order on Amazon HEREis my preference. For Witch Hazel one option is to stop at your local pharmacy and pick it up or grab one on Amazon. HEREis the one I prefer. Aloe Vera Juice can be found at your local health food store. I would give you an Amazon link for this, but seriously, such a better a deal at the health food store! It is in the drink section. Water, well you know where to find that! You can use filtered water or distilled water, honestly, I just use filtered water :)

Lastly, you need your essential oils!!! No other options here…..sorry, but I only use doTERRA 🙂 If you have an account login and you can order what you need or click HEREto get started with some now!

Ok! So let’s make some spray bottles!!! Here are some of my favorite recipes! All of these recipes are for 2 oz spray bottles.

OWIE SPRAY: Great to be sprayed onto any cuts and scrapes or skin irritation.

  • 10 drops Frankincense
  • 10 drops Lavender
  • 10 drops Melaleuca
  • Fill Remainder with FCO

TOO MUCH SUN: Apply after a long day in the sun.

  • 15 drops Lavender
  • 10 drops Peppermint
  • Fill remainder with aloe juice

LICE PREVENTION SPRAY: Spray onto hair and backpacks before school.

  • 20 drops Melaleuca
  • 10 drops Lavender
  • 5 drops Clove or On Guard
  • Fill remainder with water

SORE THROAT: Spray directly into mouth/throat when needed.

  • 15 drops On Guard
  • 15 drops Lemon
  • 5 drops Melaleuca
  • Fill remainder with water

POO POURRI: All natural bathroom freshener.

  • 20 drops Lemon
  • 10 drops of Wild Orange Purify or Lemongrass
  • Fill remainder with water

LINEN & BODY SPRAY: Spray on bedding, linen or yourself to help promote a relaxing environment.

  • 20 drops Lavender
  • 1 tbsp witch hazel
  • Fill remainder with distilled water

Now you can make your spray bottle. I like to either use a small funnel or hold the bottle up at eye level while I add my drops in.

So you remember what you put in the bottle I recommend taking small round essential oil stickers doTERRA provides you with and putting them on the bottle, or using a label maker to label your roller bottle. If you want to have some more fun, head over to Etsy and buy some labels for your bottles. They have some really cute options! I love this ladies HERE.
