Ginger Green Smoothie
I love drinking green smoothies but I get bored of the same old thing! I learned this trick from doTERRA's blog and I had to share with you! This smoothie is packed full of vital nutrients, fibers, and minerals to keep your body fueled and functioning properly.
Spinach: Abundant flavanoids in spinach act as antioxidants to keep cholesterol from oxidizing and protect your body from free radicals, particularly in the colon. The folate in spinach is good for your healthy cardiovascular system, and magnesium helps lower high blood pressure. Studies also have shown that spinach helps maintain your vigorous brain function, memory, and mental clarity.
Pears: Most of the fiber in pears is non-soluble polysaccharide (NSP), which means that it acts as a bulking agent in the intestines. It accumulates the food and adds bulk so it is easier to pass through the intestines. Furthermore, it stimulates secretion of gastric and digestive juices so food moves through the body more smoothly.
Almond Butter: Some of almond butter's health benefits come from its calcium and copper content. Both minerals play a role in brain cell communication and keep your nervous system functional, while calcium also aids in muscle function and keeps your skeleton strong. Copper enables you to make melanin, which is a pigment that helps protects your skin from the sun.
- 1 heaping cup fresh spinach
- 1 heaping cup diced frozen pears (cut fresh pears and freeze for 1 hour)
- 1/2 cup plain non-fat Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice
- 1 teaspoon raw honey
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 drop of doTERRA Ginger
Simply put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until creamy and smooth.
