There are a number of ways you can apply the essential oils to your plants. In the beginning, I thought I had to constantly spray the plants but I have learned some other great tricks along the way.
- Sprays–6-12 drops essential per gallon of water
- Hanging strips of cloth—1 drop of undiluted essential oil per strip. Hang from a branch, using multiple clothes to cover the desired area.
- String—Soak a string is a solution of water and essentials oils then string between plant rows to deter flying insects.
I have created my own spray with some of the essential oils that come up for multiple pests I am trying to get rid of. I added about 3 drops each of lavender, rosemary, peppermint, thyme, and cedarwood and filled the spray bottle with water. Then I simply shake and give my plants a spray every couple of days.
