Should I Oil Pull?

Coconut

Oil pulling! What is it and should you try it?  Well, let’s talk about it!!!

Oil pulling is an age-old remedy rooted in Ayurvedic medicine.  It uses natural substances to clean and detoxify teeth and gums. It has many benefits including whitening teeth naturally and fighting harmful bacteria in the mouth.

So what is oil pulling?  It is the act of swishing oil around in the mouth for up to 20 minutes to improve oral health.  You can use Sesame oil, Sunflower oil or Coconut oil (I prefer coconut oil).  It is best to repeat daily to help improve oral health. The oil is able to cut through plaque and remove toxins without disturbing the teeth or gums.

You can do a ton a research online and read all kinds of testimonials, people report seeing results such as decrease skin blemishes decrease pain and others results.  For me personally, I have experienced decreased sensitivity, whitening of my teeth and decreased plaque.

Like anything, it is important to use a high-quality oil.  Click HERE to check out Zuddha Organic Coconut Oil.  This is my favorite! Then I like to add a drop of essential oil.  My favorites are OnGuard or Peppermint

So how do you oil pull?

It’s actually pretty simple.  Take a teaspoon of oil and put it in your mouth.  Swish it around for up to 20 minutes and then spit it out and rinse your mouth with water well.  I recommend spitting it into the trash instead of down the drain since coconut oil does get hard and could cause issues with your plumbing.

It is recommended that you oil pull in the morning before eating or drinking anything, however it can be done anytime.  I prefer to oil pull while in the shower. Now you might be saying, 20 minutes!!!! I can’t do that for 20 minutes!  It’s ok, work your way up to that.  Start for just 5 minutes a day till you get used to it.

When you are all done make sure you brush your teeth and that it!  You oil pulled!  Easy as that!
